The Kiwanis Club of Greater Brandon, Florida was established in May 1960. Since then, Kiwanians continue to serve the Greater Brandon community, especially its children, through numerous community programs. Our members and volunteers are passionate about making an impact in the lives of our community’s children—our future.

COMMUNITY PROJECTS
Childhood hunger is a major crisis in America and right here in Hillsborough County where one in three children goes to bed hungry each night. Many are able to take advantage of free breakfast and lunch at their school, but what about the weekend? Since 2011, “Project Smile” has been providing a weekend backpack of food to children who are at risk for this problem.
All of our kids are terrific! We truly believe that, and we strive to let the children in our community know we believe in them. Terrific Kids is a student recognition program that promotes character development, self-esteem and perseverance.
Our teens are the next generation of leaders—lets be sure they’re ready to take over and make us all proud. Key Club is a service leadership organization for teens that teaches leadership through service to others. Key Club members build themselves as they build up their schools and communities.
Having access to a functional pair of shoes is a surprising need for many children. We’re here to help ensure they can walk towards success. Every year we ask the guidance counselors at our participating Terrific Kid Schools to send in requests for students they feel are in need of athletic shoes. We then go purchase the shoes and deliver them to the school to be distributed to the children who need them.
We love books! And we want to spread that love of reading to our youth. The BookWorks program brings together volunteer readers and children to promote childhood literacy. Volunteers read to preschool children and then present each child with a book of their own to take home. We presently read at 14 schools and 500 students.

The impact of the Coronavirus in our community is almost beyond comprehension. Every charity that supports families has seen requests for support skyrocket. Through no fault of their own, these families have had their lives upended. If you are able, this is the time to step up and help.
