The Kiwanis Club of Greater Brandon hosts over a dozen programs within our community and takes part in several more throughout the year. Giving back to our community is our goal and our mission is to help provide a better, brighter future for our children and residents of our community.  Click on the community program of interest to learn more about each program or to get involved.

PARTNERSHIP PROGRAMS

Project Smile

One in four children in the Tampa Bay Region goes hungry. Families are one event (car problem, doctor bill, etc.) from not being able to put food on the dinner table. Eight years ago, the Kiwanis Club of Greater Brandon partnered with Gibsonton Elementary School to try and address this issue. Many students were missing meals on the weekends. “Project Smile” was thus launched to provide a backpack of food each weekend for about 1/3 of the students (200 children). Every year, with community support, Project Smile expands!

Bookworks

We love books! — And we want to spread that love of reading to our youth. The BookWorks program brings together volunteer readers and children to promote childhood literacy. Volunteers read to preschool children and then present each child with a book of their own to take home. Our volunteers presently read at 14 schools to more than 500 students using this Goodwill partnership program.

Salvation Army – Bell Ringing

Every year around Christmas you’ll see our members and volunteers help ring The Bell to help gather donations for the Salvation Army. The donations dropped into the iconic Red Kettle are used by the Salvation Army to support their Christmas programs—providing community members in need with Christmas dinner, clothing, and toys. One of the most well-known Salvation Army toy drive these donations help
